About this place
When settling in, ordering a scattering of small savory dishes is an easy way to ease into an evening. At Wami Saibi, the menu opens with bites tailored for a drink: seasonal fish sashimi lightly marinated, a three-item platter of daily homestyle appetizers (obanzai), grated mountain yam with wasabi, octopus with wasabi, and salted squid preserves. Paired with a refreshing whitebait and daikon salad or chilled stamina tofu, they make a gentle start alongside beer or another chosen pour.
Beyond the cold appetizers, the kitchen turns out an assortment of warm, comforting plates. Slowly braised dishes include domestic beef tendon stew, simmered black cod, and oyako-ni (chicken and egg braised in savory dashi), joined by soft rolled omelets coated in a light starchy broth and boiled gyoza. All of them offer satisfying depth without straying from unpretentious everyday comfort.
A wide range of rice and noodle options brings the meal to a rounded finish. Guests can choose fragrant grilled onigiri with soup, ochazuke (dashi-soaked rice) topped with plum, salmon, or spicy cod roe, or egg-over-rice prepared with specialty eggs. For noodles, options span light seiro soba, savory salt-fried udon, and a daily-special Japanese-style pasta, suiting everything from a quiet solo drink to a substantial evening meal.
